Celebrations of the General Consulate of the State of Qatar in Houston to mark the "National Day of the State of Qatar."

In the context of the State of Qatar’s celebrations of the national day for the inauguration of the founder of the State of Qatar, Sheikh / Jassim Bin Mohammed bin Thani Al Thani, the reins of government in the country, the General Consulate of the State of Qatar in Houston, Texas, held on Monday, December 9, 2019, a reception on the occasion of this anniversary.

The ceremony witnessed the attendance of representatives of the Texas government, heads of Arab and foreign missions and members of the diplomatic corps in the city of Houston, in addition to a large number of dignitaries, doctors, managers of energy companies and businessmen, and a group of university presidents and representatives in addition to a group of Qatari citizens, whom are either seeking treatment, are Gas and oil workers or Qatari students studying in the United States of America and Arab residents of the city of Houston.

His Excellency the Consul General, Mr. Rashid Bin Abdulla Al-Dehaimi, delivered a speech on this occasion, in which he referred to the achievements made by the State of Qatar in various sectors led by His Highness Sheikh / Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Prince of the country, “may God protect him”, and His Excellency the Prince’s father, Sheikh / Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, may God protect him. His Excellency also pointed out the importance of the bilateral relations that link the State of Qatar and the United States of America, in particular, with the state of Texas.

It should be noted that the ceremony was attended by the Mayor of the City of Houston Mr. Sylvester Turner, Dr. Jack Christie, Member of the Municipal Council of Houston, and His Excellency, the former Ambassador of the United States of America to the State of Qatar, Mr. Chase Untermeyer, where His Excellency the Consul General Mr. Rashid Bin Abdulla Al Dehaimi, delivered certificates of appreciation for their efforts in strengthening international relations, especially with the State of Qatar. 

The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Sam Merchant, on behalf of the U.S Representative for Texas’s 9th congressional district, Mr. Al Green. As well as Mr. Larry Freeman on behalf of Mrs. Sheila Jackson Lee, the U.S. Representative for Texas's 18th congressional district.
